Boston Area Shabbat Dinner hosted by Michelle Gassman

May 11, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Mamaleh’s, One Kendall Square, 15 Hampshire St.
Cambridge, MA 02139 United States

I am planning a Shabbat dinner for Revolvers in Boston. There are several of us here and I want to take advantage of it to build a network of leaders driven by social justice. My hope is that this can be a time for us to all reconnect for the first time. From this event, we can work towards building a community and start thinking about how we can take advantage of us being co-located. Please note that we have a…

Shabbat Brunch in Central Park, NYC hosted by Jenny Maenpaa

June 2, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

As a member of Reality and Revolve for the past 6 years, I have built a strong community by bringing together those within and outside of TFA. I would like to take advantage of the limited natural space available in New York City by bringing together in Central Park my community of both the Revolve and non-Revolve people in my life who impact and influence my thinking on equity, privilege, and opportunity. In addition, it will be Shabbat, where we…

Catalyst: Decolonization

October 5, 2018 - October 8, 2018

This catalyst is designed to lead participants through an experience that explores the decentering of whiteness and the Ashkenormativity of Jewish American practice, and what this decentering could mean for the Jewish community in Revolve and in the individual work and lives of the Revolve community members. This will include defining “decolonization” and what that can look like on an individual, communal, and societal level, with emphasis on the individual’s practices and mindsets in relationship to broader networks. In response…

Catalyst: Sex

November 2, 2018 - November 4, 2018

Sex. Salt N Pepa wanted to talk about it, self-help books from the 70s begged you to find the joy of it, and certain politicians aim to regulate any aspect of life that has to do with it. And yet, despite the universality of sex and sexuality (second only to death in the “human experience”), there’s still a stigma around discussing it openly, even among your best friends (i.e. the Revolve Community). No more. Catalyst: Sex will lay the groundwork…

Catalyst: Teacher Leadership

November 10, 2018 - November 12, 2018

Even though only approximately two-thirds of the Revolve alumni base is still directly involved in education, almost every single one of us has been a teacher at one point or another. This means that we all know how physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding the job is. Things become even more complicated when teachers are given additional leadership responsibilities that they must balance on top of their day to day duties as an educator. While these leadership opportunities enable us to…
